I think there are multiple meanings for this.

A mark on your Skin.

A scar is also often referred to as a serious metaphorical injury from your past, often healed. A roleplayer told me once that I “didn’t have a scar on my Face” (while he was threatening to put one there) and that I should be thankful. I think about that moment a lot but particularly when I am being Blackmailed. Scars reveal evidence of a deeply damaging event in the past and often have a cool, sad, or disturbing story as company.

For a Disney reference, a childless uncle ‘an ‘other’ stupid scar won't get me what I need’ from the lion king. He’s the “evil” brother to the father of the protagonist and kills him dramatically to claim the kingdom. This is usually done to frame the brother who is not under as direct a threat of coercion (has no kids) who is more able to resist as an antagonist to better suit the didney narrative.

Scars can also be more literal in reference to events that actually left a scar on yourself or another. Reminders for self harm, or harming others, purposefully or accidental.
