If you are American, you probably received the standard indoctrination all American children got from public school and were socialized accordingly with supervised interactions. The media you consumed as a child has been strictly censured both directly by the government and indirectly by social pressures like those described here. The purpose of this is to limit your information intake to be ”trained on” only the data provided to you so that your “output” mirrors those behaviors and virtues. Anything they do not want you to know about must be disguised in innuendo, coded, or metaphoric.
